Small law to punch harder

Australian Small Law to Punch Above Their Weight Harder

It is estimated that over 80% of the Legal Industry in Australia is made up of small law firm owners and legal practitioners, yet many conferences, support services, news publications, and technologies are focused on supporting and scaling mid-tier and big-tier firms, making many in the small law sector feel isolated, disconnected, ignored and an ‘after thought’ in the legal profession.

But imagine if there was a way for Small Law to come together, explore their common goals and ideas, and enable them to understand how they can harness their collective power to become a ‘beacon’ of the Australian legal industry.

Proudly presented by Leo Cussen, Confidentially Speaking and Legally Yours, ‘Small Law Big Impact’  is a 1 day, in-person immersive and interactive event which aims to bring together small law practitioners, firm owners, and progressive legal professionals to discuss, brainstorm and share ideas that focus on pushing the Small Law agenda forward, with the ultimate goal of understanding how  Small Law can become a powerful collective within the legal ecosystem.

Elise Margow, Founder of Confidentially Speaking and owner of the small law firm Legally Speaking, said, “Small law firms are an integral and important part of the legal profession servicing the majority of those seeking legal advice. It is, therefore, way past due for Small Law to take its place front and centre in discussions about innovative business practice and legal services transformation”.

Happening on Friday, 25th August, at Leo Cussen in Melbourne from 9 am to 4 pm, attendees will hear from speakers such as the Victorian Small Business Commissioner, Lynda McAlary-Smith, Elise  Margow, Abbey Dalton, Sharon Van Geyzel, Brent Szalay, Madeleine Dupuche, Liz Chase, Jennie  Pakula and Belinda Furse.

Hosted by Karen Finch from Legally Yours, over 4 custom-designed sessions, attendees will be asked to open their minds and share their ‘voice’ as we discover how Small Law can resource, scale and lead their law firms, as well as explore the ethical and wellbeing challenges unique to this sector of the legal profession. Madeleine Dupuche, Director of Education Strategy and Design at Leo Cussen, is very proud to be part of this event. Madeleine said, “Small law firms often punch above their weight. Despite representing over 80% of the profession, Small Law is challenged by resourcing and isolation. We are delighted to collaborate in the creation of this event which highlights Leo Cussen’s vision of transforming the profession through education and connection”.

Elise Margow added, “Confidentially Speaking is delighted to be part of this great event which progresses our vision of providing innovative services to SMEs”.

Priced at $325, including GST, attendees will gain 4 CPD points (including 1 x Ethics) and will be provided refreshments, lunch and opportunities to network with speakers and fellow attendees throughout the day.
