Lawyers Create Contracts in Minutes with Dentons AI Bot
Dentons, the world's largest global law firm, has leveraged generative AI to simplify contract automation. The firm has trained LLM (Large Language Model) to understand the coding language of Contract Express and created a bot that can automate coded templates with a natural language prompt.
The bot is being piloted in Continental Europe, where a group of Dentons lawyers has access to the prototype so that they can automate documents themselves with no programming or technical skills and minimal training. Using a single prompt, the bot generates a coded template compatible with Contract Express, produces a formatted first draft, and provides suggested questions for the questionnaire. The output then needs to be exported to Word to be reviewed and quality controlled by the lawyer.
Břetislav Šimral, Director of Innovation and Intelligence at Dentons, commented, “To enable Contract Express to automate documents, it is first necessary to create the template. Traditionally this template development was done by a member of our Innovation team or a specially trained practice development lawyer and could take up to a day or two to create. By combining Contract Express with the AI capabilities of our new bot, we can decentralise document creation and empower any lawyer to create templates in a matter of minutes.”
While the current bot is designed for Contract Express, Dentons will examine how to apply a similar concept to other use cases.
