Legal AI’s Big Day: Google Enters, Vendors Respond

Google’s entry into legal AI set the day’s agenda. The launch of Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a horizontal, agentic platform built for both law firms and in-house teams, immediately reshaped the market. iManage and Everlaw announced they would integrate directly with Google’s new platform. Others, most notably Thomson Reuters, signalled they would rather build independent model capability than plug into it. Meanwhile, Harvey pushed forward on its own product roadmap, and vendors (Legora, Docusign and Blink Voice) kept building out the partnership and integration layer that increasingly defines how legal AI reaches practitioners.

Google Cloud has launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal, an enterprise-grade agentic AI platform purpose-built for legal workflows such as contract review, diligence, regulatory monitoring and privacy requests. It connects securely to firms’ existing document and matter management systems, automatically preserving ethical walls, grounding research in primary legal authority rather than general model training data, and keeping client files, playbooks and negotiated positions permanently within the organisation’s private data perimeter.

iManage AI Platform Goes Live, Links to Google Gemini
iManage has launched new industry-specific AI capabilities built on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Legal to automate complex enterprise workflows. The integration lets users access iManage’s governed knowledge (including precedent, matter context and institutional expertise) directly within Gemini Enterprise without switching tools. By connecting matter, client and personnel data with unstructured content, it enables legal teams to ask natural-language questions and get answers grounded in current, permission-controlled knowledge rather than a static data export.

Everlaw Connects eDiscovery to Google’s Gemini AI
Everlaw has announced strategic partnerships with Thomson Reuters CoCounsel Legal and Harvey, plus new MCP connectors for Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Legal and Microsoft 365 Copilot. The integrations let legal teams work across the AI tools of their choice while keeping Everlaw as the governed, trusted evidence foundation underneath, giving users secure access to their Everlaw documents, data and capabilities directly from within these partner platforms.

Harvey Adds User-Controlled Memory to Its Legal AI
Harvey has launched Harvey II, a refreshed version of its legal AI platform featuring a new capability called Memory. Memory learns and retains an individual lawyer’s working style (including drafting preferences, structure, citation habits and level of detail) so that outputs start closer to how that lawyer actually works. The feature functions across Harvey, Word and Outlook, reducing the need for lawyers to reshape AI outputs or re-explain their preferences with every new prompt.

Finnegan Rolls Out Harvey Firm-Wide Across IP Work
Finnegan has rolled out Harvey firm-wide across its intellectual property practice, one of the day’s more notable Am Law adoptions. The IP-focused firm is applying the platform to its litigation and IP workflows, signalling confidence in Harvey’s capability in those areas.

Thomson Reuters Builds Its Own Frontier AI Model
Thomson Reuters has launched Thomson, its first proprietary large language model, built in-house and fully owned and controlled by the company. Rather than following the billions-of-dollars, years-long infrastructure path typical of frontier AI labs, Thomson Reuters built on a strong open-source foundation and invested USD$40 million in talent and compute to train the model for its core use cases, resulting in a frontier-capable model at a fraction of the usual cost and inference expense.

Legora Embeds Its Legal AI Inside Intapp’s Software
Intapp and Legora have announced a strategic partnership to deliver governed, AI-native workflows for law firms. The deal connects Legora’s AI platform to Intapp Walls for AI governance and ethical-walls compliance. At the same time, Legora will feed enriched data into Intapp Time to improve automated time capture and profitability insights. Together, the partnership aims to let firms use AI within their existing permissions and compliance infrastructure, while laying the groundwork for further joint innovation across both the business and practice of law.

Blink Voice Brings AI Time Capture to Clio Users
Blink Voice has launched an integration between its cloud phone system and Clio’s legal practice management platform, allowing attorneys to place calls, log call activity to matters and capture billable time without leaving Clio. The integration automatically connects inbound and outbound calls to the corresponding Clio contact and matter, so firms have a single, unified record of client communications.

Docusign Brings AI Contract Automation to Legal Teams
Docusign has launched an Intelligent Agreement Management integration with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Legal, bringing AI-powered contract automation to enterprise legal teams. The integration lets legal departments automate and analyse contract workflows securely within the Gemini Enterprise environment, extending Docusign’s technology beyond e-signatures and deepening its partnership with Google Cloud.
