Wolters Kluwer to Acquire AI Vendor Libra Technology
Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory has signed an agreement to acquire Libra Technology GmbH (Libra), a Berlin-based provider of AI technology for legal professionals, for up to €90 million, comprising an upfront payment of €30 million and deferred consideration contingent upon achieving specific performance targets.
Libra has developed the Libra AI assistant, an intuitive, best-in-class legal platform designed to help law firms and legal departments streamline a broad range of research, drafting, review, and analytics use cases with accuracy and efficiency in a secure collaboration environment. Libra serves a substantial and rapidly growing customer base of law firms and corporate legal departments in Germany and other European countries.
The combination of Libra’s legal AI assistant technology with Wolters Kluwer’s trusted, authoritative, AI-enhanced legal content will deliver a powerful, all-in-one solution for legal research, drafting, review, and document analysis. This integrated solution leverages advanced AI and agentic technology to empower customers to work more efficiently and securely, while creating higher-quality outcomes. This combined offering will deliver unmatched accuracy, compliance, and domain depth, setting a new benchmark for AI in legal practice.
